Buffy DVD problems

here's the original thread in the A/V forum

"Hi,

I recently aquired Buffy Season 2 in all it's 6-disk glory.

I was able to play the first 2 dvd's without incident, but I tried the third with my Realmagic Hollywood+ and it said "No Disk Found"

thinking it was a bad disk, I exchanged it only to find that the same problem on disk 3 prevailed (disk one and two work fine)

furthermore, I tried the rest of the disks (I neglected to do so on my first set) and the third, fourth, and fifth disks said "No Disk Found"

I tried it under Interactual Player and it said that the region codes were bad. I switched out the DVD rom for another, but the same problems were duplicated under Hollywood+ and the Interactual Software decoder both.

I don't know what to do at this point. I could try exchanging again but I dont think that will solve the problem.

any recommendations on how to fix the problem or how to get disks that work?

thanks."

What gives everyone?

warez whatever software dvd player is available (powerdvd/windvd) and try it with that.

of course, if you have an ati card you should have a dvd player on the cd.

I use PowerDVD and WinDVD, and all the discs play OK on my machine.  Are you actually watching this on an external TV, or on your monitor?

It's the Macrovision crap the RIAA is tossing down our throats.

While I am not a fan of ripped MP3's getting passed around and screwing over the artists (I could care less about the fucking record companies), I think all this copy protection stuff is shitte.

Besides did anyone else see the RIAA is demanding royalties now from USED CD sales?

Yes.... Saw that this morning. They must be destroyed, there is no other alternative.
