I can't think of a person I know who would be able to function under that system.  We have waaaay too much stuff on paper to pack it up every night.

Mon Jun 3 18:34:33 2002

I really hope they die soon (Sun, not the poor employees)
Magus

Mon Jun 3 18:58:28 2002

Honestly, that system would drive me insane. If they're so determined to make things easier, why add the extra hassle of trying to find a good desk each day?
Maximus

Mon Jun 3 19:03:44 2002

Why be normal?  That would be WAAAAAAAAAY too easy...

more bullshit = more stress
more stress = more unhappy employees
more unhappy employees =  less employees
less employees = no Sun
no Sun = no big deal.

Mon Jun 3 20:12:06 2002

We can only hope so, HitScan.

if i read the article right, the system is optional.

Fuck that. If they're so "forward thinking", why do the employees have to come in at all? Why not let them work from home with a fat pipe, or from Starbucks?

Is it because they bought into Larry's fucking S T U P I D "Network computing" garbage? I think SO.

I hope they plan on making employee's use the Sun Rays.

We were one of the first companies to deploy Sun Ray's in quantities...

A quick check of our ticketing queue currently shows almost 500 known issues with the Sun Ray's.

The ONLY way they became useful was to run Citrix XP on them back to a 2000 desktop, but half the time the stupid fucking things just die.

How many major BIOS updates this year? 12. How many broke the Sun Ray's till we went back to an older revision? 7.

Fucking morons.

And assholes like McNeely complain about Microsoft?

MWNH must have one of these damn things stuck up his piss hole.

Yes, because they know the general public doesn't know anything, so they do their damnedest to paint MS as the big bad villain.

Wonder if the piss improves its performance?

Depends on how much blood is in it, is my guess.

Hopefully not too much, or he'll become anemic. After all, his ansu bleeds from the rapings that Linus gives him.

Well it sure would expain his fucking stupid attitude and lack of intellegence as all the blood would be flowing to his ansu!

Oh, I laugh and laugh.

A whole news story about how Sun is trying to save money by making life more difficult for their employees.

I bet they're thrilled about the whole idea.  No desk? No problem! You're not valuable to the company as a person, you're just another resource, like electricity, or raw sulphur.  Sheesh.

I really hope Sun dies a slow, painful death.  They deserve it for this idea alone.

Magus

Tue Jun 4 22:15:47 2002

EM:
Thought you might find that amusing.

JR:
Yeah, maybe next they'll be that anal to their customers and speed the death up a bit. Oh please, Lord...

Don't tempt me.

When Microsoft released C#, my buddies who work at the MS office in Waltham, got a HUGE C# logo made of foam. My truck was picked to carry it as it's the only truck of our bunch that could hold it, and we dropped it off on their front entry way.

/me is reminded of when ms did this to netscape with an ie logo. iirc, a larg mozilla mascot was promptly rolled out.
Magus

Thu Jun 6 14:32:48 2002

IIRC, that was also before netscape shot themselves in the foot and blamed MS for it.
Evil Merlin

Thu Jun 6 18:44:54 2002

Actually the Mozilla Godzilla or whatever never made it too far. As they tried to get it to "eat" the big e for the pictures it started to rain... the rain washed the godzilla almost white.

What the flying hell did Sun get out of that mess ?

Did they start a game of musical chairs to save on office costs or are they just shuffling people for the entertainment value.
