You're occupying too much space on JR's hard drive. :tongue:

Jeremy: are the posts enclosed in another tag? a top level div or another table? They have to only be children of the body tag or else they'll be 100% of their parent tag, which will be expanded to fit the largest table.

You mean, say, if there is one <table=100%> blah </table> and inside blah is all the different posts, then the whole blah ends up formatted the width of the largest table inside blah?

How do I prevent this?

Magus

Mon May 20 17:12:53 2002

Off the top of my head, it seems like you could explicitly set a size for the inner tables.
Jeremy Reimer

Mon May 20 18:11:34 2002

Wouldn't that pretty much fuck people running at different screen resolutions, though?
Jeremy Reimer

Mon May 20 18:49:42 2002

We're getting there.  I think I've identified the offending table that encompasses the thread.  There are two, actually.  Why?  Who knows...
Jeremy Reimer

Mon May 20 18:59:13 2002

I think I've done it!  I just have to unfuck the buttons at the bottom, and we're done!

Magus

Mon May 20 19:08:52 2002

Shouldn't if you do it by percentages.
<table width="100%">
  <table width="70%">
  </table>
</table>
Hmmm, my suggestion is no longer needed. That's what I get for taking my time replying.

Nope, it's totally fix0red now, check it out!  Large-assed posts get to be large and wide, and everybody else just gets to be normal.

Cool, eh?

Well, it's a bit late now, but to answer your questions: Yes, and take them out of the big table. :)

You should probly set the info cell on the left to have a smaller percentage of the space (or define it in pixels) because it hangs pretty far over on my screen. (granted, it's a 1600x1200, but 1% of your screen is 1% of your sceen reguardless of res. ;) )

Who cares... if you are not running at least 1280x1024 you don't belong here...

Such is my point. I'm running 1600x1200 and the username, avatar,title cell takes up 2 inches of my screen. :p
Jeremy Reimer

Mon May 20 20:26:48 2002

Well, I could bump the info cell a bit, if I figure out where the hell it is... it should be easier than finding where the uber-uber-table was that encompassed the whole thread...

By all means, JR, submit your findings/solutions to the ik authors.  Get some credit for your work!

You gonna buy me a new laptop with a nice UXGA-sportin' screen?!  :tongue: :D

Jeremy Reimer

Mon May 20 20:29:31 2002

Okay, I've bumped it from 20% to 16%, this leaves just enough space to put in "1st Lord of the Admiralty" without word wrapping on my screen (I run at 1024x768, I know, I know, but I like it)

EDIT: Actually it's 17% now, because I realized I had to resize the rest of the table to 83% from 80%.  I'd like to hardcode the pixels for the user column, but then how do I do the remainder of the table in absolute format?

Indeed you have! I didn't expect you to "jump to" and get right on it, but it looks pretty good anyway. :)
