I mean, the threads are liberally sparkled with pure ignorance (no Madan, I'm not talking about our discussion, I understand perfectly how having bad information could lead one to these conclusions). There's the usual personal attack when somebody dares to criticize the holy OSS, and finally the gratuitous MS bashing that I was expecting more from slashdot than from Ars.
So, what do you think? It's a normal case of "when I was young, these things didn't happen" or it is really going down the toilet?

For instance, whenever Venture posts, there seem to be the usual lot of replies of "Vengie/Ventroll" and "Why do you hate Apple?" instead of actually addressing the points he raises.
Too many people respond to the poster rather than the actual post, and it sucks on all sides. Unfortunately, I don't see many individuals attempting to readjust their current attitudes.

But lately I can't even be bothered to read certain threads. Apple's marketshare? Up? Down? It gets lost in the countless Venture/antiVenture boredom. I'm sick of the rabit tinfoil-hat Penguin crew bleating away about Microsoft being the cause of every bad thing that happens to everyone in the world. And I stopped caring about the XBox LONG ago.
Of course the solution to that is to create great new threads. I have a few in mind, I just have to get the motivation to actually start them.
