There's a good piece on Moby in last month's WIRED. He's trying to be the first manufactured artist/celebrity that hasn't been manufactured by someone else.

Some of his stuff is good. "We are all made of stars" is a favorite of mine because it's true-- every atom in our bodies once resided in the core of a star lightyears away...

I'm not a fan, mostly because he gets overplayed on the local (only) modern rock station, and none of his stuff they've played has ever impressed me.

To me, the music sounds so... manufactured and artificial, and his voice isn't that great.

But what do I know? I don't care for Dave Matthews Band either.

Yeah it's out, don't be expecting anything close to Metallica. If you did not know Newstead before Echohead, you would never be able to tell he was in Metallica. All in all it is GOOD music...

Then again, what is amazing me is the Tommy Lee CD is actually rather good.

The first time I saw Moby was in 95. He was possibly the best entertainer I have ever seen. I'd compare along side to the Beastie Boys, Metallica, and Pennywise. I saw him again in 99 and he was again incredible. He goes fucking nuts on stage. Kinda like a Trent Reznor, but different style.

As for Eminem making rippin on him, I think it was lame and I even like Eminem. If you're gonna hit someone, at least hit someone who's gonna hit back. Moby could give 2 shits about Eminem.
