He invited me and some friends tonight for dinner and, after some sophisticated conversation and a couple of glasses of Bardolino imported from Italy, he goes to a drawer and pulls out an unmarked tape.
We sit down in his luscious living room, some on the overstudded chairs, some on the sofas, right in front of the high end TV set, all ready for a treat, and he presses Play on the remote.
You can imagine my surprise when I hear the unmistakable John Williams score and the Star Wars logo on the screen.
Yes! It was Star Wars! Finally! I could taunt all of you with my pre-review of the movie event of the year!
So, I cuddled down in the soft leather, sipped some wine and got ready to enjoy "zee art".
Man, the movie sucked ass.
I had to excuse myself and go back home before half of the movie was done... :( I just couldn't bear it no more.
The cinematography was more like a direct to video production than a true to form movie. The digital effects were absolutely laughable and the animatronics... well, I don't want to offend all the good people that worked on this, but in their place I would be wary of putting my head out of the house for quite some time.
The acting was high-school like. A large part of the movie was totally unintelligible, spoken in alien language (I think this is because the copy didn't have subtitles, yet) and you had to figure out the plot by following grunts and growls. Pathetic.
Did I talked about the dance scenes? And the musical number?
Oh.
My.
God.
I don't know what mr. Lucas takes before going to bed, but surely it is not a substance available freely. Dream sequences, hypnotic scenes that looked like they came straight out of the late 70s... *shudder*
And the thing that sucked the most... the title.
How in the hell can somebody title a blockbuster movie as: Star Wars: The Holiday Special?!?!?!
Crazy people....

...the movie event of the year!
That would be LOTR:TTT. Certainly nothing to do with Star Wars. Well, it may be Jason X, now that I think about it.
"Luke, be a Jedi toniiiiiiiiiight!" :D

Oh, man.
It was SO BAD.
In fact, I think I posted a thread on that very subject on OSY. Off to search mode!
