My job got me a laptop to work from home...

I can't run any of my Mac apps but it's a PIII Dell Inspiron.

It's HUGE but it's my first laptop and it's a Dell, so whatever.

Is it the 8100? If so, it will prolly run games better than your compaq rig.

And, forgive me.

Dude, you're getting a dell!

I believe it's been reported that the same Taiwanese company assembles both Dell and Apple laptops.

My friends who have Dell laptops (mostly Inspiron series) love 'em.  Hope you have as good an experience with them.

Now I'm going to see if I can grill my boss into updating her Mac(an OlllllllllD 225 mhz beige box) with a G4 tower so I can use it OR see if I can eventually hammer away at them into getting an iMac here.

If not, maybe they can get a new CRT iMac with a 700mhz G3 and 256 mb of RAM because our Blueberry iMacs(400/64) are getting a little long in the tooth after four years and, while they still work devinely, they can't really cut it with the specs they have(not that a Wintel would cut it with 64 mb either).

We have a bunch of Dell Inspirons in the office that used to belong to former employees (well, they belonged to the company, obviously, that's why we still have them)

Big bulky things, and they make this ENORMOUS beep when they boot up, whereas my little iceBook just has that calming "bauumm" Mac warmup sound (not that I ever reboot it, since sleep works so well)

I also don't like the trackpads, they are all slippery compared to my iBook.

HAHA that's funny I'm arguing that a Mac is better than Madan's PC, that's too rich.

DUDE, YOU'RE GETTING A DELL!!!!!11

Well, I just found out that the Dell isn't an Inspiron.

It's a Latitude. HUGE monstrosity. Feels like it weighs close to 10 lbs. C160.

It has a gig mobile PIII.
128mb of RAM
ATI mobility 128 16mb.

DEFinitely *NOT* better than my Compaq.

Plus, it has no sofware on it(not really a problem since I have Office 2k and Photoshop...etc.)

USBx2, 24xCD...

Not a powerhouse by *any* stretch of the imagination. My iMac feels *faster*.

Only good news is that it has Win 2k Professional preinstalled. No 9x.

*shrug* It's so heavy.

Blah.

I would rather have an iBook too...

Trackpads blow.  It's all about nipples.

Sorry, it's a C610, not 160 and it has both a nipple and a trackpad but, in any event, *both* suck.
