...Coming out of the closet

AllYorBaseRBelong2Us

All things considered, it is a very hard thing to admit.  Maybe harder than admitting that one is gay?  I don't know, I have no propensity towards homosexuality whatsoever.  But given everyone's take on recent events, my admission might make me the ultimate object of ridicule:

I *like* Celine Dion.

I sing just like her.  :)

so sue me.

Well I don't but if I did, it would be just as bad as what you posted.

Why are you so mean to AYB? :(

In times of need OSY'ers should rally around their own, AYB commands it.

besides, it's not like I *love* her singing like say:

Shakira,
or Sarah,
or many other people who aren't weird looking french canadians.

No, really -- I'm not the only person who went on a killing spree after hearing her Titanic theme one too many times.    (Of course, "one too many times" == 1)

AYB is one one big sappy teenage girl!

No worries, when I go to Wisconsin sometime in the future and stay at AYB's place (I do enjoy self inviting myself) I'll give him a taste of some MANLY music! <timallen>RUFF</timallen>

How about some Papercut by LinkinPark!!!!
Or some Marilyn Manson Antichrist Suparstar!!!

Oh yeah Party! at AYB's place when I come to visit!!!

I despise Marylin Manson.

He's really no better than a pre-fabbed boy band.  he's popular because he portrays himself as evil, which sells.

Shirley Manson OTOH, unf unf!

I'm not mean, I just think Celine Dion's "music" is something I wouldn't force upon my worst enemy even if I was slowly torturing him to death.

That my friend is wrong! well you're right but wrong at the same time. Marylin Manson said that America only listens when you do something outragoues. Everything he does is actually just a personification of what the US stands to him.

I find it ammusing that people who despise him only do so because it on some level exposes something they don't like about themselves.

After all its just music, so why have such strong feelings like 'despise'?

if you said you don't like his music cause it ain't your style, then thats fair enough. But when you say you despise Marylin Manson, you only end up proving Marylin Manson right.

He's a pretty smart guy too and actually doesn't potray himself as evil like you think so. You should read his work and opinions before you go despising him.

Every generation has some singer/artist that people will object too but the next generation worships/loves/iconise.

It never ends. Marylin Manson is one of those people.

keep in mind I too hated Marylin Manson at one time but I read some of his stuff and realised what he was trying to do.

Anyway, you want to talk about evil? Who's listening to Celine Dion?

I don't think admiting your gay is very hard unless you are surrounded by ignorant small minded fucktards which in any case you'd be better of without them in the first place. Well not that i'm trying to trivialise the difficulties that any closet case homosexual face. It must be tough indeed.

It would be easier if we killed all the ignorant stupid motherfuckers off! I'm all for that cause...

MM might have been trying to be outrageous, but to me he's been boring for the past few years.  And going be his unpopularity on local radio stations, this leads me to believe that many others feel the same way. ;)

Though I have learned that his early work is great to play while having sweaty, animalistic sex.  "I am the god of fuck!" was never more appropriate.    (Used to have a gf who was heavily into MM; this is how I was introduced to listening to MM during sweaty, animalistic sex. ;))

I did see him in concert after his first album, when he toured with NIN.  To me, he was meh -- all shock value and the music wasn't very entertaining.  Though he didn't gross you out as much as did the Jim Rose Circus, who came on after him. :shiver:

I prove him wrong, by not buying his stuff, or buy even thinking about him (except this once)

And he's not the only one like this by a longshot.

When you get right down to it he's just a sheep.

On the contrary.

I despise him because he does shockingly poor covers of good songs.

Precisely the one I was thinking of.

It's one of the not-large number of 80's songs that I enjoy, and that is not-infrequently played on the local radio station I listen to. Also, it was the only cover he did that I could think of offhand.

Bad covers of good songs... You mean like how Dolly Parton is covering 'Stairway To Heaven'?

Please, God, no...

Harbinger

Fri Apr 12 15:07:44 2002

Oh god, no.  That's absolutely not necessary.

On the alternate tip of good covers of good songs...

Has anyone else here listened to Pat Boone's album "No More Mr. Nice Guy -- In A Metal Mood" from a few years back?  He covers a number of hard rock/metal songs, but not straight covers... it's done as if he were doing a Vegas act.

It's hilarious.  My friend laughed so hard, he vomited!

Here are the songs covered:
You've Got Another Thing Comin' - Judas Priest
Smoke On The Water - Deep Purple
It's A Long Way To The Top - AC/DC
Panama - Van Halen
No More Mr. Nice Guy - Alice Cooper
Love Hurts - Nazareth
Enter Sandman - Metallica
Holy Diver - Dio
Paradise City - Guns N Roses
The Wind Cries Mary - Jimi Hendrix
Crazy Train - Ozzy
Stairway To Heaven - Led Zeppelin

Surprisingly (or not), most of these songs "work" as he covered them.  I didn't really care for Stairway, though, because he did it in a kind of bossa nova rhythm that I didn't think fit the song too well.  The Metallica and Dio covers make it more than worthwhile, though. ;)

No, it was just a lark, considering his vast gospel background and "clean cut" image.  Sadly, he lost his television show on a xtian network because of it.  Guess they didn't get the joke, or bother listening to the album. :(

He's really no better than a pre-fabbed boy band.  he's popular because he portrays himself as evil, which sells.

I always thought he was trying to peg himself as a second-rate Marc Almond clone, although he comes across to citizens of this fair isle very much like a younger Dot Cotton.

And I'm very sorry, Celine Dion fans, but the only noise I'd like to hear from her is the squeaking sound of a crowbar being pulled out of her skull.

Her and fucking Whitney fucking Houston. And don't get me started on Mariah Guinea Pig.
