But I kind of like the lozenge banner. It neads a reworking, that true. But I'm using an old PSP and I really don't know a lot of tricks.

You think "logo" and immediately start drawing without thinking what you want it to look like.
The result? A logo that looks like yours, for the most part. What you need to do:
A. Figure out what your logo will say....exactly.
B. Figure out the color scheme to your logo....exactly. Gray and red? Black and blue? Yellow and brown? etc..
C. Figure out what kind of "feel" your site will have. Is it going to be flashy? Is it going to be cold and aloof, ala Riso's site? Is it going to be playful like Disney's or hardcore informational like MS?
D. Then, *design* the logo to make sure that you're making it look creative. Decide on a series of shapes or arcs that represents your core page idea or maybe pick an icon/idealized version of an entity(animal, piece of tech..etc) to represent it.
E. Stylize the *fuck* out of the idea. Add a gray graphite border or maybe add some blue plastic to the letters...or not...etc. etc.
A suggestion. I don't think your site is the ugliest of all time. Heck, as an "accomplished designer", which is something I like to call myself when I don't suck(which is usually), I can tell you that my first site was worse. It had frames(ugh) that had black sandstone in one background and white marble in the other(ugh) with colored letters(ugh) and animated "welcome" gifs(ugh, ugh). Trust me, there can be *much* worse.
Also keep in mind that most ppl that criticize consider their sites nice because they are "simple and professional". That's "bs" for bland, boring and hackneyed. The gray background, white text with simple lines bordering everything went out wi 1999. It still looks good but it's *not* hard to put together items composed entirely of VML/XHTML/HTML. So don't feel bad because Photoshop takes time and skill to learn.
I'll see if I can come up with a logo suggestion at work and I'll post it later but I can't right now. I'm installing our new copy of Flash MX on my personal school iMac and I think I need to update our OS from 9.0.4 to Fortissimo.
