Ever since I have started using AOL, I have ceased to fear dying. My penis immediately doubled in size, and my endurance during lovemaking has increased over 100 times. My employer keeps pressing me to accept fabulous raises and perks.God left a message on my voice mail guaranteeing my entry into heaven, no matter how bad I fuck up the rest of the way in, and Satan has been showering me with beautiful women, riches and all the good things of this world.
And all for less than 30 dollars a month. You can't beat AOL.
:)

Oh, and please don't bring up ART files. Those issues have been resolved.
Anyone? Or are we constantly beating on them because they appeal to the non-l33t masses and because, best of all, they're just there?

Misadministration doesn't mean a damn thing to me.
There's plenty of shitty admins.

And last but not least:
"You've got mail"

general software quality
Elaborate.
packaging obsession (If I fucking want AIM I'll go find it thankyouverymuchAOL.)
Uhm, that's one of the perks of using AOL. You get AIM free and you obtain a version that is far more complete than the crap they have for Wintel, non-AOL users.
Not-technical btw.
that they still appear to be unable to use the OS dialer, instead installing their own rancid crap.
taking over your bookmarks, because they must not allow you to just use IE,
???
A. I use IE with AOL and in parallel to it.
B. AOL doesn't take over jack, in Netscape or otherwise.
instead creating their own shitware using IE. how nice.
Why is it shitware.
it appears to be a spam magnet, and spam production facility, all at the same time. yummy.
This is not a technical problem. You can set filters for spam. You can pay more to ex it out. Same as any other online email.
Not technical, btw.
And last but not least:
"You've got mail"
You're the *only* person I know who doesn't like that.
Most people do.
Oh, and not technical, btw.

but this:
Instead, management got months of complaints from both senior and junior executives in the divisions involved, who said the e-mail system, initially designed for consumers, wasn't appropriate for business use. Among the problems cited: The e-mail software frequently crashed, staffers weren't able to send messages with large attachments, they were often kicked offline without warning, and if they tried to send messages to large groups of users they were labeled as spammers and locked out of the system. Sometimes, e-mails were just plain lost in the AOL etherworld and never found. And if there was an out-of-office reply function, most people couldn't find it.The various types of e-mail software used by employees aren't the same as those used by America Online subscribers at home. Instead, the divisions customized AOL products, such as those from its Netscape unit.
Isn't affecting me or consumers.
Which is further backed up by this:

It's Nutscrape, which I've admitted sucks but can't really be ignored for web dev.
Besides, is it as funny as this?

Or this?

Every company fucks up internally but I'm still waiting for usability/technical issues applying to *consumer-based* AOL products.

Of course, last I used it I'm not sure if it had even hit 4.0 or 5.0. You can't tell me it didn't suck then. I won't hear it.
The general quality one was basically me bitching about the fact that the interface is awful (which I know, is MO, but I hate it bunches! :) ) and that I don't like the way AIM works, and I was in a bitchy mood I guess.

A. They're servers need to be beefed up or they need to add more of them. My connection's down to 19 baud and that is just wrong.
B. Of course the speed is not only the lack of servers but also attributable to the fact that PC users have 7.0.1 for their AOL and us Mac OS users are still stuck on AOL 5.2.2, which means they get a shitload of new features and added speed and they are shitting on my head because they think that us 2% don't care.
Those aren't technical problems, really though. They're administrative and marketing ones.
