Normally I wouldn't give it a second thought, but I recently read peoples' feedback on (IIRC) EBWorld.com about this game, and there were many complaints (and many who praised it). However, I *think* the bitching was about the console version, since to my knowledge the PC version wasn't available yet (as your post implies ;)).
This has been the only continually good baseball game series, IMO, so it is at the top of my list. I wonder if MS is going to bring out their BB game again? A few years ago it was my #2 choice behind HH. Triple Play? Meh. And Sierra hasn't done a BB game in how long now?

Not long enough!

Gawd, I think back to how much time in uni was spent playing Hardball! on the C64 and then the Amiga.
Then along came Earl Weaver Baseball... :bravo:

I haven't dicked with any settings yet, but there are a few minor gripes I have.
1) Some minor sound glitches from the announcers, like stuttering. This was prevalent in the previous version as well.
2) Some voice recordings have a hiss in them, as if they were recorded with an old Radio Scrap portable tape recorder (the old single-speaker/slide-out-chrome-handle type ;)). And it's only a few spoken parts.
3) It seems that no one can create crowd graphics that don't look like total shite.
4) An inordinate amount of check-swings (IMO) are called as strikes. I've only played the one game, though, so I'll see if this balances out. But compared to last-year's version...
More to come as I abuse it even more. Since it requires DirectX 8.1, I wonder how different/better it may look on a GF4...

1. I'm glad they finally removed their heads from their asses and gave you guys your Baseball game on XP. It's about freaking time.
B. This thread desperately needed an avatar that was not having a spasm. ;)

I usually like the "strategic" aspects of the HH series, I like drafting, trading, and managing the minor leages.

Heh. I have noticed that Jeremy has made it a transparent gif, improving it marginally. However, I still conclude that Calvin had to stuff a firecracker up Hobbes' ass to make him do that.
Well, I believe it was transparent to begin with. I've saved it for webpages for quite a long time now. Don't remember where I originally stole it from, though. ;)

Harb, how is overall gameplay and balance?
Compared to other BB games, I feel HH has the best 'balance' and feels closest to the gameplay of a real game. But without all the waiting in between pitches and innings. ;)
I usually like the "strategic" aspects of the HH series, I like drafting, trading, and managing the minor leages.
To be honest, I've not used those features, though I know they're touted as some of the best. I just haven't had the time/patience to play an extended season and take care of all the details.
Actually, I must amend that. After a layoff in Nov 98, I did start a season as the Phils. Unfortunately (for HH), I got a job pretty quickly and had to supress my urge to play games all day long while the wife was out. Though I'm underemployed right now, I've been kept really busy, so I don't know if I'll start a season anytime soon.
