STUPID BATTLEFRONT!!

Jeremy Reimer

Fri Mar 15 22:24:42 2002

There are NO GOOD THREADS in the Battlefront right now, other than ones I have started.

It's getting so bad that I'm dreaming of another price comparison thread...

WHAT'S WEETH YOU PEOPLE!

ps  I don't mean you people, I mean BF people.

There is one I am enjoying,

other than that, I think the fact that were discussing bundled calculators and the same old public BSOD from a half a decade ago doesn't bode well for any prospects of finding any good weekend entertainment there.

Ahh, I stirred the pot with an Ad hom JR.  let's see who comes running to your defense, and rescue...

And, I agree.  I'm glad that an arogant, windows loving ass like yourself, has branched out, and tried different os.

There is hope for you yet...;-)

The Battlefront sucks. Which is why I've all but abandoned it.

I only read it now to see the occasional Mac bash, and the Netscape 4.x thread; which has gone on far too long in itself.

I'm too busy (recent promotion to Cheif Godlike Entity at work==more money, more typing). I can't even get stuck in properly with those NetWare tards, which is a shame.

Christ almighty, some of them are advocating NW 6! Assume the position, Netwarelots!

He recently referred to OSX as "the one true os."  I find I have a hard time taking anything he says seriously, even if he stumbles onto something that, albeit coincidental, is correct.  His reputation precludes him. ;)

Paul, what does your new job entail?  Do you do programming, admin, etc?

My company is in deep shitora and I may have to look for more work soon.  I need all the advice I can get.  I don't want to do programming.  :(

Evil Merlin

Sun Mar 17 16:42:05 2002

Nibs can be a nice person, if and when he lays off the crack pipe...

HitScan

Sun Mar 17 18:21:22 2002

nibs' problem is that he's always trying to be funny, and at the same time pick at NT users, but using no puncuation or smilies or anything comes off as a raving  lunatic. (i.e. if you take the things he says at face value, he's completely insane. If you think he's making fun of something, he merely becomes irritating.) I've discoverd this after exploding in his general direction a couple times and having things spelled out slowly for me, heh.
Harbinger

Sun Mar 17 21:47:12 2002

HitScan: Yeah, I pretty much agree with what you're saying there.  Reading nibs can be difficult at times because you can't tell if he's being serious, condescending, haughty, or humorous.  I used to give him the benefit of the doubt when in the BF, but lately I just skim/skip over his posts.  If someone has a response to him, I can read that post and get an idea of what's going on.  He might know his shit about the Mac side, but his overbearing condescention of NT/2K makes him ignorable (to me).  If his mind wasn't so closed, he'd probably be more well-received.

EM: When isn't he on the pipe?  ;)  (In the BF, of course.)

Paul, what does your new job entail?  Do you do programming, admin, etc?

Almost entirely development, but now I do System Architecture, which means i have little boxes that I spec out and get other people to do.  It's probably the long slow road to me becoming a non-technical fathead like MWNH.

I will take that to mean a powerful explosive, which would logically annihilate them provided it's detonated in a confined area.

No argument here.

Sorry it's a Daisy Cutter.

A big fucking FAE bomb.

IIRC, doesn't it take out everything within something like a 100-yard radius?  My only exposure to it has been from CNN using it as the latest buzz phrase, sorry.

Evil Merlin

Mon Mar 18 18:25:33 2002

Yeah it's a big bomb. While the actual explosion is not huge, the pressure wave it creates is. The larger ones come close to aproaching 1/100th explosive power of the Hiroshima nuke, but I don't think they ever made it into production. The Daisy Cutter is about 1/1000th the power.

Basiclly how a daisy cutter works (the actual designation is the BLU-82). The daisy cutter  is a 15,000 pound "conventional" bomb. It's so fuckign big, not a lot of planes can carry, let alone drop the mother fucker. The warhead contains 12,600 pounds ammonium nitrate, aluminum powder, and polystyrene. Using special instruments the bomb plane sets the bomb before dropping it. It's most important to take into consideration air speed, air density, ambient air tempeature, and such. At a set altitude the bomb starts "spraying" this mixture in VERY fine bursts and sprays.  Then it is ignited. BOOOOOM! The Daisy cutter can create an overpressure of 1,000 psi; humans can endure 40 psi. Anything within 300-1000 feet is blown flatter than flat. Best thing is too... no crater.

Oh yeah it is rather cheap too, to make one of these things only cost the tax payers a bit less than $30,000. Compare that to a BGM-109 Tomahawk which usually carries a conventional bomb now, and costs just about 1.5 million bucks. Or the AGM-136 Tacit Rainbow (air launched cruise missle) which costs you about 1/4th of a million (if it ever gets made).

well I don't see how a moderator can improve discussions by just locking threads?

I think EM means that the peeps that now populate the BF are not contributing towards an interesting debatable platform.

Besides, other then price performance ratio, and some quirks in OS X, the debate for which platform is better has become futile at best since any platform are almost equal in function and form.
