I told them that it would be easier to go in and re-do the site since many of the image maps simply wouldn't work after the change.
Anyways, I work about 3-5 hours M-R there. Usually, an hour each nite is dedicated to other duties.
The horrid thing is they gave everyone the boot(I've told you this already) except for me and one person to fulfill the orders.
Welp, my immediate boss went to the CFO of our parent company to complain and wonder what I do here.
WTF? I had told everyone that it would take me 2-3 weeks to re-do the site and that, in the meantime, it would be a bit messy.
I've been posting design iterations on here, to boot!
I just had a chat wi her and told her that I was working as fast as I can. She told me "ok" in as sugary a sweet manner as possible but you can tell she was nervous because she knows that someone else probably filled me in about the complaints(they did).
I'm actually doing right by them...staying in the gig for a measly 20 bucks per hour(according to their parent: the Miami Herald, the avg. webmaster/dev goes for 30+) and they still think I'm cheating them.
What a freaking joke. I'm am so close to leaving this shit.

Question, it looks like your trying for the newspaper look, if so would having a grey color for the background help any? I've always noticed newspaper is always a greyish color ( at least the cheap local ones I get ).

A. All the img text is in white(not transparent) because transparent text was coming out in poor quality. Ergo, it's too late to change...
B. Gray made the page look .... ugly. I tried ivory and liked that..but it was too late by then.
I just validated the site. It's good.
Now I need the subsequent ASP. Tomorrow.. Fuck it...they can wait.

Yes, it IS stupid. Especially since the Miami Herald's reputation has been going down the crapper.
I'm working on that. Perhaps, instead of only selling back issues(borrrrring!), we can "pimp" out the site to those small stores that sell novelties found nowhere else.
They handle the customer tracking, the CGS/item and we take a 5-10% slice(gross).
We'll see if I can craft a report for the CFO today/tomorrow.
