Yes, he must be the only person in the world who thinks that Netscape 4 is wonderful, and no amount of hard evidence against him seems to shake that belief...

"Netscape sucks."
"Netscape are winnar!"
"It crashes on perfectly valid code, it's ancient, it's shite."
Netscape are winnar!"
"What the hell? Netscape has sucked for years? IE overtook it way back at 4.0."
Netscape are winnar! Bookmarks!"

I'd say he needs to understand true suffering, but then he already does voluntarily use Netscape, so it's all over but the dishes with this one.

Ah, but is he suffering, HitScan? He seems to be too dumb to know that he is.

Netscape 4x wasn't bad.

Sorry.

Besides, you're focusing on this harmless twit?

Why don't you guys mention Venture, who has recently lost his mind...

Or BFG..Mr. "A cely 500 can spank a G4  500"

Or prowlerguy.....now there's a sick mother.

Netscape 4x wasn't bad.

Sorry.

Sorry, No. I was a huge "It's Netscape or it sucks" kind of guy back in the day. And then I went to college with a new computer. I was messing with NS 4.75 or so (whatever the last one was) and it was a crashtacular piece of owl shit. It finally got to the point that most of the sites I liked wouldn't work right or would fuck it up. (and the "Mail and news" shite certainly wasn't working well either.) It's Netscape's own fault that I became an IE fan. They could have fixed any number of bugs and kept me happy, but do you know what I got for all my loyalty? A fucking Shopping button. Fuck that, I'm surprised the thing doesn't crash on the shopping page.

It's all over. If it weren't for AOL grabbing it up and hooking it up to life support, we'd be rid of the vile scourge that is Netscape. The fact that it's AOL now certainly does not help. It also doesn't help that the only way to get a new ns browser is when AOL decides to pick up a months old Moz release. netscape.com should just be a mirror for mozilla.org, that would at leat be respectable. (well, kind of.)

Is it me, or does the guy seem like he attended the Shitman school of trolling?

Lesson 1: Ignore the overwhelming evidence to the contrary, if it disagrees with you.

Shitman school of trolling?

?? I thought that lesson consisted soley of "Bray like an ass, bleat like a llama." Or am I mistaken?

Netscape 4x wasn't bad.

Sorry?

In what respect was it "not bad"?

Its complete ignorance of the HTTP, HTML, CSS, and ECMAScript standards?

Its shockingly poor coding?

It's a pisspoor attempt at a web browser, and it was completely outclassed by IE 4 which at least attempted to do things properly.

Once upon a time Netvigator (Netscape is a COMPANY not BROWSER) owned IE. Then IE got a whole lot better while Netvigator started to suck ass.

Then mozilla started to improve with its current incarnation close to what IE is. So its going to be interesting to see if the bastard son of Netscape will surpass IE and reclaim the glory that once belonged to Netvigator.

Remember the good old days of SPRY? Is that right? Its a the browser that came before Netvigator and IE, the same company where some of the folks left to start up Netscape.

Eww. lets not dreg up the ghosts of browsing past. The thought of using Mosaic in hs gives me nightmares. "You must hit the "stop" button before closing" because it's so damn hard to do that behind the scenes

Er, some corrections-- I believe Netscape was started by some of the guys who wrote NCSA Mosaic.  Spyglass was another project based on Mosaic code which became commercial before being entirely bought out by Microsoft for Internet Explorer 1.0 (which was entirely sucktackular, not even supporting frames, and got quite thoroughly rewritten by Microsoft, thank goodness!)

Netscape went on to great success with version 2 and 3, then got fat and lazy and shat out version 4 which was the definition of sucktackular (and it was even worse on the Mac-- doing ANYTHING in Javascript was likely to crash not only your browser but the entire Mac-- don't question me on this or I'll bring up the course I took on Javascript using Mac Performas using System 7.5 with Netscape 4... )

Anyway, IE just kept getting better, and Netscape just kept getting worse, so they sued Microsoft instead of fixing it.  Bunch of weenies.

People so didn't get the point of that thread.  Page 9 and it's "wha wha Microsoft did this" and "wha wha Microsoft did that"

You know what? I don't give a fuck what people use, Opera, IE, Mozilla, whatever. I don't fucking care. As long as it's not NS4, because it's shite.

And Madan, NS4 is shitty. Anyone who hasn't cussed up a storm when having to break a perfectly valid W3C-compliant web page because of that piece of shit that fucking retarded bear scrotums like Bad Vlad keep using because they're so fucking stupid and resistant to change ain't a proper HTML coder.
