Were the Canadians robbed?

I didn't see the competition, but supposedly the Canadian figureskating couple accomplished a flawless performance versus a lackluster and mistake filled performance for the Russian couple.

Could the judging be biased?  Hearsay indicates that the French and Russian judges negotiated a "you vote for mine, I'll vote for yours" type of deal.  This may all be just that, hearsay but I find it sort of odd that the Russians have won this competition for the last 38 years, indicating a long standing case of back-scratching?

Anyway, if there is national biased at hand in the olypics, what should be done?

Personally, here's what I think:

If bias and favors can be proved, the judges should be permenantly barred and the nations that the judges represent should be banned from judicial representation for the next two Olympics for ALL competitions.

What you think?

Personally, I think judges from the represented nations should never be used.

However, I hate the Olympics utterly and haven't watched even 1 minute of any Olympics since Summer 1992 -- Barcelona, Spain.

Yes, they got ripped. Theirs was easier but perfect, while the Russians screwed up. This is the reason I don't watch the Olympics, there's too much playing politics.

I think figerskating is insufferably boring. Any sport that involves judges giving the scores out isn't really much of a sport at all.

It's a psychological thing that keeps the Russians in good graces. You see, Duff is right, it's insufferably boring shite. So, the judges are thinking, "You know, I'll bet if I downed a fifth of vodka right now I could wake up in the morning not knowing that I wasted the better part of my life watching people play on ice..." And so, their subconcious associates vodka with the Russians, and it's a no brainer. In the future the Russian ice skating team will consist of a trained circus bear that skates to Mary had a Little Lamb, or the theme from Bonanza.

Latest news:

The Canadian Skaters were awarded the gold medal in addition to the Russian skaters being able to keep the same.

The Russian sports world are acting like babies over this, "We would have not complained, we would have just won the next competition"

Well, that is easy to say when you manipulate Judges, eh?  Cheaters need not complain about people who follow the rules.

Personally, AYB doesn't think another set of Gold should have been awarded.  The Russians should have been the sole Medalwinners, but I would have extended the investigations with dire consequences for all Countires involved in judge manipulation.

Jaimie needs breast implants.  Then, she would be perfect, and deserve a gold medal.

Agreed Jeremy, Agreed!

I would much rather have small ta-tah's that are backed by an athletic body than a glob of the same stuff that goes into pentiums put inside the sacred vessle that constitutes "Teh Boobies"

The Russians are active fusking LAME!

now they are trying to introduce contraversy into other skating events by trying to appeal individual judges scores given.  They are trying to change the judments by virtue of the judgements themselves and not even alledging any judge bias or tampering.

Sore winners, sore losers.

Assholes all the way!

They're just mad because they failed at being Communists, and now have to take handouts from the US.

Plus, we have lots of toilet paper. ;)
