I can't understand why I sleep all day

I slept 13 hours today. This can't possibly be healthy can it?

How much sleep does everyone else get?

I'm lucky if I top 6 hours. It appears Duff, that we are at opposite ends of the healthy sleep spectrum, heh. (I pulled an 18 hour nap one time. Never again. Never.)

I'm generally useless without at least 7 solid hours of sleep.

me works on 3-4 hours of sleep. winter pushes it to 5-6 hours.

as for healthy sleep. It depends from person to person. On avg. a person needs ~8 hours of sleep. Some people however can have good sleep in fewer hours some with longer hours.

the other factor is how consistent is your sleeping habit.

If you are consistently sleeping fewer hours then you need for a couple of days you increase sleep debt. Eventually that sleep debt is gonna catch up and one day you're going to need to sleep those hours too. So 13 hours might just mean that your body needed to recover the lost sleep hours from the days before. So that raises the question, what is your sleep habit?

Here is a simple test of if you're getting enough sleep: if after a heavy lunch you feel drowsy then you DID not get enough sleep. You should be able to hog a buffalo with a few pigs on the side and still be awake like you're on speed.

I think ya know what I mean...

so anyways...

13 hours does sound like a lot but may not be something to worry about. My friend at college once slept for over 24 hours. :eek: Holy shmoley! ape man!

I usually get 5 hours of sleep.  However, I really want more; I ain't as young as I used to be.

Ah yes. The night shift. Or rather, the night shaft. I worked in a factory for 12 hours a night for my first job out of high school. The schedule was 2 12 hour days, then 3 off, then 3 on and 2 off. It sucked donkey sack. It also fucked me up so badly that to this day I can't judge time (I'm always very early or very late, there's very little inbetween) and I never know "when" it is. I always have to have my watch or I forget what day it is, day of the week, anything. It just plain sucks.
