But sometimes getting a first-party solution can be reassuring. At the very least I want it to be an option. AMD keeping themselves dependent on 3rd-party chipset manufacturers is in my opinion a [color=red]fucking stupid[/color] way to run their CPU business. Maybe their partnership with UMC will allow them to produce more chipsets and thus alleviate this a bit.

This is currently true. I decided I had no need of one since my hall has a computer lab open 24-7. I will rectify this sometime later in the year. If I don't decide to put it off even further.
However, my mom has a Dell rig at the house. I got her that because I don't want to be tech support; and Dell is commonly cited as having the best tech support in the industry.
