Oh come on. Its just the nature of the game. Some one makes some pooh remarks about something you're passionate about you're going to jump in and only reflect that passion.
Only wisdom saves you from looking like an overzealous freak.

And as we all know, wisdom is not a virtue that many people have.

Besides if you were to be completely objective and not subjective you'd realise that OSY's beloved (not by me at all) Paul Hill is just as bad. Well at least recently he's gotten worse with his inane pro-msoft slant.

pdampier is an annoying win-bot.
I would say that each platform has their own little army of over zealous 'protectors'. The only people I hear mentioned on OSY are the pro-linux, pro-java, pro-mac, pro-anything that isn't windows.
So to me OSY stands as a stinking pile of horse shit dedicated to Microsoft. When was the last time we had a thread about the annoying zealous msoft users at ars?
never.

Only out of respect of Riemer I don't go so far as calling OSY a stinking pile of horse shit. Plus I like some of the posters here.

Beyond that and at the risk of making my self unliked here, I don't see some OSY members as any better when it comes to platform objectivity.

Ironically I'm starting to see PeterB as more objective and those that i considered as objective to subjective.

Will wonders never cease...

oh and what about NoPostageNecessary and his freaking stupid thread about powermacs not at 1ghz because 133 x the multiplier gives a value that is off by a decimal point.

I know its a troll and shame on the mac users for feeing the troll, but none the less. Idiots are rampant in this little world of ours such a shame we can't line them up and shoot them.

Let's face it, arguing about computers and operating systems is a spectacular waste of time and resources.

I have always felt this, but never truly accepted it.  When I finally did, the result was OSY, which is meant to be a monument to the extreme silliness of these kinds of debates.  And extreme silliness in general.

I will say this, however:  After a long day of work bashing away at FreeBSD, I'm kind of relieved to come back to my Win2k box.   :)

And there is something compelling about computers and operating systems that causes so many of us to become so deeply involved in discussions about them.  Me, I'm reading "Infinite Loop" yet AGAIN simply because I can't get enough of the real-life soap opera that is Apple Computers.

Why is this stuff important?  I have no frigging idea.   OSY is part of how I'm trying to figure this out.
