When I contacted Compaq(warranty), they snidely insinuated that it was probably me. Tech help was such a dip shit. What a fucking surprise he received when he discovered I knew more about the insides than he did.

Regarding Compaq t/s... Several years ago, I worked for a company that did outsourced support for various companies. One section -- hell, damn near an entire building -- was Compaq tech support. Turnover rates were high, but normal for helpdesk. ;) After dealing with a number of these people, I wouldn't doubt that you had a bad experience with Compaq support.
I don't know if this group is still doing Compaq support, or even if Cpq is still outsourcing (but I gotta think they are), but ever since then I've been leery of big companies' tech support.
Oh, and next time... you're getting a Dell, dude! :tongue:
PS: I'll still build you a PC. I'll even consider taking your Compaq as partial trade.
