New Music Suggestions

Robocop Q Einstein

All right, here's the thread to offer music suggestions.  Recent findings, old favorites, everything.  Tell us who they are and give a little description.  Ok, here goes.

Dashboard Confessional: Emo hard-strummin' acoustic.  The guy writes really good lyrics, has an amazing voice, and is incredibly hot.  Nuff said.

Bright Eyes: Headed by a 20 year old kid named Conor Oberst, they play the same kind of stuff, mostly acoustic, but more musically talented/experimental than Dashboard.  He writes incredible lyrics, but his voice may turn some people off.

J-Zone: Underground hip hop from NY.  He lives in NYC now, but he used to live one town over from me and went to school at my brother's school.  His first album, Music For Tu Madre, was his senior project at school.  He released another album called A Bottle Of Whup Ass was also pretty underground, but he just signed a bigger deal and released Pimps Don't Pay Taxes.

He's really funny, very intelligent, and raps about being a total loser, which he is.  It's not an act, he really can't get laid or anything, so he basically just raps and pisses people off.  Check out Orphan Babies for a good sample of his stuff.

The Weakerthans: A post punk trio from Winnipeg, CA, they were born out of the ultra political Propagandhi.  As opposed to Propagandhi, who are screaming, nasty punks, the Weakerthans are pretty laid back, but retain the same intelligence and political slant in their lyrics.  Good shit.

Anyone else?

I like just about everything, except for country/western and rap. I also tend not to like the stuff that's on MTv.

Is dashboard confessional in any way related to dashboard prophets? I heard confessional on tv and they sounded sorta similar, and the similar name, so i was wondering if they were in some way related.

I think you should use the other Sailor Moon avatar; the one where she's touching the pendant on her forehead, with the jewel glowing.

Or else switch to an avatar that...<gasp>...isn't even of Sailor Moon at all! The horror, the horror!

IG could you post it up so i can copy it.

i can't even remember the shit i write! bah!

i had a great monolouge for a movie that my friends I are going to make for a local film competition. The thing is i was in bed while i had the idea, but i was to tierd to get up and write it down. I figured in the morn i'd still remember it... ho ho ho... one never truly learns does he? Off course as it goes, i forgot every word of it. Booh!!!!

Best line is from a good friend of mine who has three gold fishes and noticed one day that there were little tadpoles (or baby fishes) to which he remarked (on the spot): "Fuck!, there is more sex in my fish bowl then there is on my bed?"

LOL!!!

aahh.. you'd have to be there...

Sure. Let me dig it up. It was said on the Battlefront originally.

Ah here.

"I don't believe I belong to a country. I believe that I belong to this planet, and even more so that I belong to this universe. So I see no borders and I recognize no nation. I don't let religion draw the map of my life neither do I let goverments dictate the law of my land. I am not a soldier of hummanity but the warrior of the universal spirit."

What I did to make it my signature was correct the spelling errors, italicize it, and state who said it. Done.

Werd.

I'm splitting my time between my "hard rock" collection and some new punk that I've been recording/mixing for local bands.

I'm currently listening to a track called "hentai" by someone purporting to be called "Jose Amnesia" rather a lot.
