discuss.
wait, that's not osy-ish enough...
...um...
indeed!

Let's wait and see. There's still a possibility, though it's phenomenally remote, that this is a gag.
Personally, since I absolutely abhor Apple, I don't much care whether it's fact or fiction.

It looks like there could potentially be problems with the support structure for the CRT by the looks of it. It doesn't look too durable.
It looks, erm, um... interesting.....
I could grow to appriciate it, but it aint the friggin' cube, that's for sure.
If it starts at G4 667 w-256L2 0L3, 256MB, 20Gig and has some sort of Nvidia Chipset for $1300, then I may think better of it.

Perhaps apple should focus on actually making better computers instead of new and interesting ways to package them.
Hehehe. Didn't you know man, you can't just go around applying reason to things all willy-nilly. Think of the business plans that would be shot down, the half baked crackhead schemes that would be canceled before they could fail. It would be madness!
Mon Jan 7 14:21:02 2002
Why not package it like Gateway's Profiles? (i.e. the "Mac" stuff behind the display, the whole thing no taller than the display and stand.) This thing just looks awful. Kind of like a freaked out beanie for the nerd ereete. Blah. Putting a small fucking fan in it would make that completely doable. Oh, but then it wouldn't be a "true Mac"
A prediction! It will still have a G3. It will still suck. J00 h4v3 b33n w4rn3d.

Did I mention I hate Apple?

AYB: This is a spec/spec comp. between the Gateway Profile 3CX and the iDew:
800mhz G4 256lb cache vs. PIII 1.2 ghz(winner: PC slim)
RAM: Mac: 256, PC: 128(winner: Mac 100%)
HD: Mac: 60gig ATA, PC: 40 gig ATA(winner: Mac 50%)
Vid card: Mac: GeF2, PC: "integrated Intel"(winner: Mac!)
Nic: Mac: Yes, PC: No. (winner: Mac)
Floppy drive: Mac: No, PC: Yes(winner: PC)
Modems: Tie
Sound: Mac: HK speakers, PC: Integrated(winner: Mac)
Drive: Mac: Superdrive(CDRW/DVD), PC: CDRW(winner:Mac)
USB, FW...: Tie
Price: Mac: 1799, Gateway Profile: 1699
Uhm, so I'm getting a bigger HD, a better vid card, a much better drive and better sound for 100 bucks?
Hunh.
BTW, the arm is not "flimsy". Unlike the Gateway Profile 3CX which is made of polyferrous alloys(bumper metal) within the frame, the iDew's arm is made of composite plated steel. Muy fuerte.
Aesthetically, there is no comparison:
You'll notice that the rampant speculation concerning "inflexibility" can be put to rest as the arm bends VERY easily and is very accommodating.
I love it. I'd get one if I had the spare cash. Moreso, I showed it to all my kids and they went nuts.
I showed it to two younger female teachers and they liked it. Thought it was cute and thought it looked great.
Both suggested getting a batch for the shool...
Apparently only computer geeks like this better:
An underpowered piece of 1995 junk.

1 I don't feel much like arguing. I still don't like it. I wouldn't have a Profile either, but between the 2 I prefer the Profile for it's design, not it's looks. Uh, if that makes sense.
b What the hell is that little black graphic at the bottom of your post. bash used that at Ars sometime recently, and I'm assuming that IE 6 just doesn't feel like showing whatever it is. I see a black rectangle with a gray line in one of the corners.
III I don't remember anymore. I think I had a third thing. of course, I usually guess high, so that's probly what happened here. I'm too lazy to edit my post
I'll admit, the base Profile specs are kind of weak. That's why I customize everything. :D Damned Gateway didn't want to give out 60GB drives though :( And as far as I could see, a NIC is integrated into most models. You pick the puny one? ;)
Mon Jan 7 21:50:21 2002
The 3CX is their "strong" model.

But I was.
What's your point, Hill?
Or are you just exercising your tongue in a futile attempt to be clever again?
Mad.

No.
How do you know this?

As for the iLamp... it's... it's... eh, I don't know. It's okay, but the letdown from the enormous Macworld hype is shocking.
"Oh and one more thing... there is no one more thing. See ya! Cue the music!"
But of course, the rallying cry is now: "Wait for Macworld Tokyo!"
Okay then.
Mon Jan 7 23:33:55 2002
I was so miffed at Apple about that "cue the music".
I was screaming at my Dell..."is that it? is that it?"
Noone is more pissed than me.

My response is... er... so why not hype that instead?
