The state of gaming on the Mac

OscarWilde

Mon Dec 10 10:11:49 2001

Here is a discription for one of the exclusive mac games:

The year is 1957 and a fleet of flying saucers from Planet X have come to Earth. These saucers are under the control of the evil Brain Aliens who are abducting helpless human beings and taking them away to strange alien worlds to become slaves of The Giant Brain. Luckily for the human race there exist the Otto Matics, robots who police the galaxy in name of all that is good and decent.
You are Otto Matic, the robot who is given the job of saving Earth from the clutches of The Giant Brain from Planet X. You must rescue as many humans as you can while defeating the Brain Aliens and all of their evil followers. Your mission will take you to strange and fantastic alien worlds which are often treacherous and will require Otto to perform amazing feats.

and isn't that the most fucking boring fucking descrpition you have every fucking read? Fucking a!

phear the brain:

and this drunkard is going to save us?

This game sounds like pure lameness.

so, from the description... it's metroid, but without the trademarks?

Oh wait, it's Mac exclusive. I guess I'll have to find an emulator.

And yes, it does sound a bit like Metroid without the trademarks.

Don't bother, its a REALLY crap game. The controls are god awful and teh graphics are bad too. Bugdom was cooler. Anyway Pangea is really pushing their graphics engine. Then again their focus is on kids/simple games. So i give them props there.

I never played metroid.... so what is that like? Some alien met a guy with roids?

muahahahahaha!!!

i make a funny...

man I am like so lame at 12:38 in the morning </80's>

metroid would be one of the three most popular console series ever, in my estimation... well, maybe not if you count tetris.

"Velcome to Shprockets! I am your host, OW. I'm as happy as a little girl! Klaus, give me oomph!"

Hehe, for some reason, your post reminded me of that SNL routine.

Planescape Torment > BG (any incarnation)

Well, Tuesday we set the roll model for coaches theory to rest.
A whining 9th grade coach kept bitching about traveling we didn't call on the other team, with his team up by 40 at the time.

We let it slide, so his whole bench got into it, and a couple girls on the floor.  I warned him, and he yelled at me, so my partner T'ed him.
He shot his mouth off again, another T, and he was gone.
Still, they won by like 50.

I guess you have to teach the biggest babies proper behavior, or, the younger ones start getting the idea they can do the same.

Planescape Torment > BG (any incarnation)

Now, y'see? *That's* what happens when they mix your ecxtacy with Clorox or Drano.

Gee, lemme see. Would I rather play as a demi-god, with a HUGE storyline(50% larger than PS:T), involving romance scripts, team scripts in a Forgotten Reamls, the ORIGINAL setting for D&D, playing any variety of characters and races against familiar but *exciting* opponents of unfathomable power?

Or do I want to be a dead guy, and ONLY a dead guy, in a Planescape universe, with little to no relation to hardware/environs/opponents that I'm used to(and most fantasy fans are used to ftm) from my youth?

Hmmm.. Let me think about it.

BTW, AYB, I'm getting butt humped by Abazigal in TOB. I CANNOT BEAT HIM OR DRACONIS. My characters wail on him for *MINUTES* at a time and he's "barely injured". Worse, my spells have no effect on him, even though they're all lvl 19+ AND my weapons are all +3+.

I'm so pissed. I beat everything else. Illesea. Yaga Shura and Sendai, relatively easily but it looks like I might need cheat codes for those two dragons.

*sigh*.

I'm not that far Madan, but I recon it's an issue with very high magic resistance and weapon immunity.

I'll have to research that to give you suggestions.

I recommend cheating at this point :)

Wrote something on Matrix and Man & Machine for the Shadowrun RPG. Go buy them, they're good :)

Seriously? Cool, Shadowrun has become one of my favorite rpg's since 94 or so....

I don't have many addons for it, just magic/solo style stuff, we don't do much decking primarily cause it really kills a groups activity while you do the decking, actually same as astral stuff. We generally just go merc style on anything that gets in the way. :)

Looks like Man and Machine is a nice merc style book... I'll have to check it out.

ARGH! More Move by Wire stuff, that stuff is just soooo wrong.

I am responsible for the Programming section of Matrix. Most of it, at least. The good part. :)

I did some editing and fixing for the Skillsoft programming rules for M&M.

As an aside, I also run the largest and second-oldest website about Shadowrun... but lately I got seriously lazy and it's not receiving the attention it deserves. Go check it at http://www.dumpshock.com, it's a collection of fine SR websites, I 0wn the Archive :D

Oooo.

That's cool Paolo.

I may have to check out teh Shaddowrum roolZ

AD&D kinda sucks!

i can't for the life of me figure out why a 1st level mage and a naked 25th level warrior with a dex of 13 have the same armor class.

Didn't the warrior learn about parrying?

Well, at least AYBD&D first edition rectifies this anomolie.
