So my dad's in the hospital

Jeremy Reimer

Fri Nov 16 23:47:12 2001

Even though he's not supposed to fly, he managed to come out here from Manitoba, visit half a dozen friends all around the lower mainland without telling anyone, then on Tuesday I get a call from one of his friends saying he "had a bad night".  WTF was that supposed to mean, I wondered, so I asked if I could talk to him, but he wasn't able to talk, so I asked about his condition.  He was "disoriented and short of breath".   This friend of his didn't seem to think it was a big deal, but I was thinking GET HIM TO THE DAMN HOSPITAL, which he finally agreed to do.

Anyway, he had a heart attack, blood thickening, high blood pressure (he's had that for years) AND pneumonia.  All at once.  He's lucky to be alive. He's stable now-- We went to see him yesterday and he was able to talk, but it's still pretty much day by day.

Sucks. I'll keep you updated on how things are going.

Hope he gets better :(

Speaking of sick relatives, my uncle is in the hosptial, and they dont know whats wrong with him, they think he has stomach cancer. This is just after he gets laid off from work so now he has no health insurance. He already had money problems before this, and now he's going to have massive medical bills, possibly until the end of his life. This is assuming he even gets through whatever he has. He has gotta be the unluckiest guy i know. Whenever I feel screwed over I just think of him, and realize that I'm really lucky to have what I have.

I think we take a lot of things for granted, myself especially and when people you care about are sick it really puts things into perspective.
