1) Certain units try to address 00000000x00 while performing their actions. This is a highly consistent problem such that reloading from auto-save and performing the same acts results in the same illegal pointer address, thereby forcing a shutdown of the problem.
I've tried driver updates to no avail. The problem persists.
2) Scrolling accross the screen with the mouse is quite slow. Not nearly as annoying as #1 but annoying none-the-less.
Consider yourselves informed.

It damn fucking better be; this is a game I'll be buying when I build my new computer some time next year, and I insist on using XP Professional.
Linux/Mandrake (or SuSe) compatibility wouldn't hurt its cause, either.

I'm too lazy to do a product search. Is it Win2K/WinXP compatible?
Yes. Or else I'd never would have bought it.
Issue #3)
After exiting the program, running other things like Word, and IE, if I try to restart CivIII, my machine running 2000 (no sp) consistantly locks. Otherwise this machine has only locked up/crashed/ or otherwise went indeliveberately down maybe 5 times since i first installed 2000 in Feb of 2000. (that includes a small flurry of crashes called by a known issue with Diablo II)
Linux/Mandrake (or SuSe) compatibility wouldn't hurt its cause, either.
Won't help it either, not many gamers use linux for games as the ports, if my information is correct, are usually not up to snuff with their windows counterparts.
Also, does it require a powerful machine to run acceptably well?
The minimum spec for CivIII is a P2 300mhz with 32 MB.
My Cele@822 and 256 ram is rather slow. Sometimes I'm finding it takes 30seconds between turns. Others are reporting up to 4 minutes.

Hmmm. Sounds like it's a RAM/disk hog, plus optical drive speed. A huge amount of RAM, plus a 15K SCSI hard drive and SCSI CD-ROM would probably speed the game up immensely.
