I meant to do this a while ago, then I noticed that I'd compiled it using Unicode, so it wouldn't work on Win9x, but it should be fine now.

(1) The plugin does two quite different things; it will automagically update a file (that I use for Outlook Express's signature), it will let me use hotkeys for Winamp. Why does it do two completely unrelated things? Because I wanted Winamp to do both those things and couldn't find decent plugins to do it for me.
(2) It has a rather rough UI. I know how to use it, that's all I really care about.
(3) It might be buggy. Don't try to break it, because it probably will.
(4) If you use the signature stuff, it probably won't work if you stick more than 4 kbytes of text into the little boxes.

Thanks Riso but:

A. I don't really care about anything Peter puts together.

B. I don't use Winamp ever since it became impossible to download mp3s(napster:dead, scour:dead, audiogalaxy:crippled, excite/altavista:crippled)

Considerate o' you, though.

Ummm, ever heard of gnutella? Get the gnutella clients for the mac. The best is Limewire. There are quite a few of them out there. Mactella is the most basic one thats there too.
I strongly recommend Limewire though. gnutella kicks ass and also makes you loose harddrive space fast.
Not only can you get mp3's you can get mpeg movies, pictures, basically anything that is software and that is being hosted via gnutella.
Just remember though, a lot of times the connections are just bad. I tend to have better luck downloading mp3's, but mpegs tend to be a toss in the dark thing. If i'm lucky the jack ass at the other end won't turn of his computer and disconnect me after i've already downloaded 100megs worth of a 110megs mpeg file. :FUCKINGMAD:

STOP errors are completely out of my hands, and nothing to do with the plugin.

Works fine for a number of other people under XP.

I don't want a f.....g client.

The reason I liked Scour(it rocked) and the reason I liked audiogalaxy was because they had a download function wiout any funky client crap that many other sites use.

As a result, I could download a song at work, while I work, wiout having to find a way for the client to reach out through our firewall.

I can't dl ANYTHING at home as long as my modem keeps dialing at 21 baud.

Peter, I can think of few ppl that know as much crap about coding/OS makeup as you do.

Why don't you build "StudlyOS". Sure, it'd take you forever but you'd be legendary like Torvalds...

I'd use that.

Madan they are all clients by definition, or at least as far as I'm aware. Napster was a client too.
But i'm guessing audigalaxy is a web search engine right?

StudlyOS was built and finished quite a few years ago. You could work on Version 2.0, but since it's already completely perfect there's no real need.

Peter: Stop errors are not from the plugin? On a stock XP w/ WHCL drivers?

I'm not bagging your plugin, just saying that it didn't work on my system. I'm pretty sure it's not a fault of my system, but then again, I didn't debug the dump.

And to use your own words 'it's beta, may or may not work'

No.  I have a program that will cause BSODs in Win2K and WinXP, but that is not this program.  And you seem unique in your difficulties.

I'm not bagging your plugin, just saying that it didn't work on my system. I'm pretty sure it's not a fault of my system, but then again, I didn't debug the dump.

I can guarantee that if the computer is crashing whilst using the plugin then the crashes are symptomatic of some fault with your system (or perhaps even WinXP itself, though it doesn't seem to be the case), and not the plugin.

And to use your own words 'it's beta, may or may not work'

Yeah, but there are few things -- short of exploiting bugs within certain low-level parts of Windows (which my other program does -- that can make a user-mode program blue-screen a computer.  And the plugin doesn't do any of those things.

Scour was great, but between Bearshare (Gnutella) and Morpheous, I can get all the MP3s I can shake a stick at.

Sheesh, Madan, get broadband and join us in the 21st century.
