    Hello OSY people!

    I am in the process of adding Achievements to the blog, as I promised a while back when I was creating this crazy blog/forum software.

    Well, my motto has always been "We get there eventually!" and so I'm doing it now.

    Here is a list of OSY members who will get special achievements for being Awesome:

    <table>
    <th><td>User</td><td>Join date</td><td>Achivements</td></th>
    <tr><td>Jeremy Reimer</td><td>Nov 19, 2010</td><td>Creator, Founder, OSY1 member, OSY2 member</td></tr>
    <tr><td>Harby</td><td>Nov 29, 2010</td><td>Founder, OSY1 member, OSY2 member</td></tr>

    </table>

    ack! I just realized I never added editing abilities to the first post in a thread. Blog posts, yes, but not the first post in an OSY-only thread. Anyway.

    Here is the full table:

    <table>
    <th><td>OSY2 postcount</td><td>Join date</td><td>Achivements</td></th><br>
    <tr><td>Jeremy Reimer</td><td>8758</td><td>Nov 19, 2010</td><td>Creator, OSY3 Founder, OSY1 member, OSY2 member</td></tr><br>

    <tr><td>HitScan</td><td>5929</td><td>Dec 2, 2010</td><td>OSY3 Founder, OSY1 member, OSY2 member</td></tr>
    <tr><td>Terry Palfrey</td><td>0</td><td>Dec 5, 2010</td><td>OSY3 Founder</td></tr>
    <tr><td>AllYorBaseRBelong2Us</td><td>10291</td><td>Dec 5, 2010</td><td>OSY3 Founder, First Admiral, OSY1 member, OSY2 member</td></tr>

    An explanation of the titles: "Founder" is someone who was on OSY3 from the founding date (around Nov 25 2010) until June 2011. This is kind of a way to catch everyone who joined OSY3 from older OSYs early on, to distinguish them from people who might register later.

    "OSY1 member" and "OSY2 member" are self-explanatory.

    "Creator" is just for me, obviously.

    I now have to create some awesome badges for each of these achivements and then add them to the database and show them on the user profile page... should be fun!

    Also, I am completely amazed and <i>honored</i> that so many of you have stuck around since OSY 1.0. That’s over TEN YEARS. Not as many people migrated to OSY 3 from 2, but I think that’s because when I went from 1 to 2 I migrated all the old user accounts, including user name, password, and post count, so it wasn’t as big a transition.

    I <b>might</b> consider migrating some OSY 2.0 accounts over in this way, but it’s a fair bit of work for me (in the old days I had canned software and pre-written user import scripts) so we’ll see.

    I <b>WILL</b> be adding your old OSY 2 postcounts to your OSY 3 postcount for everyone in the list above, and for people who join from OSY 2 from now on (however, they will not get the "OSY 3 Founder" achievement)

    I would still like to get big-time OSY 2 posters like Imitation Gruel to come back, and I would love to find old stalwarts like Duffman and Robocop Q. Einstein, wherever they may be in the universe...

    SMAM FOREVER!

    Okay, it is done. I have restored everyone's old OSY 2.0 postcount, and added their OSY 3 postcount to that total, so the postcount should be accurate from now on!

    I will do achivements tomorrow...

    Okay I’ve done the first round at the achievement icons. They aren’t great, but they are kind of placeholders for now.

    Basically, I described the qualifications for getting the achievements in my posts above. I wanted to reward my faithful OSY1 and OSY2 users for sticking around, and for the people who got on board the OSY3 train early. AYB gets the "First Admiral" achievement because he was the first one to get to 10,000 posts and achieve Admiral rank.

    Future achievements could be anything I want them to be. Post something amazing on OSY? You could get an achievement just for that. Who knows? The possibilities are limitless.

    That's a good question! I can think of a good achievement icon though... something involving cake...

    You achieved them.

    Unfortunately I don't have a cool thing that pops up at the top of the page that congratulates you when you get a new achievement.

    Yet.
