My parents bought me all sorts of Lego Space sets including the Command Center, one and two-seat Space Scooter, and the holy trinity of awesome space ships: The One-Man Space Ship (shown above), the Transporter, and the awesome Galaxy Explorer. Looking at these classic Lego Space Ships filled me with overwhelming nostalgia. It made me remember how amazing my parents were to me, which made me happy (for the memories) and sad (for their passing) at the same time. For a few moments it was hard for me to breathe. My heart was beating uncontrollably. I still have all the pieces for all these sets, stored away safely in clear plastic bins. Maybe I’ll build one again.

I had more fun taking the monopoly car and pretending I was driving around different locations on different maps in the atlas. And the thing is, I actually do like building things with my hands.

He didn’t like that you couldn’t do ANYTHING you wanted with it (ie; you didn’t have infinite granularity on the pieces) For me, that was half of the fun, figuring out how to work around the limitations of the medium. You only had so many pieces and they were of limited type, so, given those constraints, what cool things can you make? Turns out it was a LOT of cool things. Mostly I made space ships though. I often wonder if the "infinite possibilities despite strange limiting constraints" mind-set draws a lot of people to programming. You have all these weirdly-shaped pieces and with them you can make anything you want.

Joined: Sun Dec 5 06:23:12 2010 | AYB is now infatuated with GI Joe of all things. This is something he hadn’t given a second thought to since 1988, but now he just dropped about $300 on it.... Too bad it’s not StarWars. Tons of #@#$% on clearance for starwars collecters/army builders. You can’t find @#$%@#$% for Joe, however..
