Time for an update to the Sun Strategy Spinner?

Posted by: AllYorBaseRBelong2Us on Sun Sep 3 21:54:42 2017.

The decade(s) long circling in the toilet bowl of relevancy has essentially ceased. It is now falling into the Final gulp of the flush into the forgotten realm where Standard Oil, Enron, and Delorean have gone (Oh, and Be too)

maybe someone should just paste this to a tombstone...

You can make new posts to the forum again!

Posted by: Jeremy Reimer on Tue Mar 22 15:30:15 2016.

Wow, I’m so sorry I didn’t fix this sooner!

I made a change a while back to how the blog creates content pages (which also posts to the forum, since they are one and the same), not realizing that I also had to change the page that makes a new forum post as well. Because normally I just made new blog posts, I never thought to check it. Bad developer, no cookie for you!

Anyway I fixed it. Sorry about that.

The triumphant return of awstats!

Posted by: Jeremy Reimer on Fri Jul 12 18:20:40 2013.

Those of you (you few, you proud, you OSYers!) who remember way back to OSY 1.0 will recall I used to use awstats to do a neat graphical display of the number of hits, browser, pages visited, and other stats on my site. Well, those happy days are here again!

I’ve put the awstats page here. It’s just static pages, because I didn’t enable the web-based updating stuff (historically, there have been security holes in this). I run the updates from the command line using a shell script run via a cron job.

Go nuts, see what neat things you can find!

Anyone into Ingress?

Posted by: loisrp on Sun Jul 7 17:23:39 2013.

Is anyone into Ingress?

Forgive me, but I keep trying to see the point, and I am failing. I appreciate that many people have taken up walking for exercise and met some people while playing it. But is there something else of significance to this? When I attended the presentation, someone mentioned that Ingress seemed to be encouraging and promulgating the use of Google+, and that might be sufficient reason for Google to have sponsored it.

Leadership by accident

Posted by: xradionut on Mon Apr 29 06:32:20 2013.

I attend a local OSS programming language user group. Most of the old time leaders are burned out or out of the country on contracts. So guess you gets to step up to the plate and lead the group?

About me

I'm a writer and a web developer. You may have read my articles at Ars Technica, where I write about the Amiga computer, video games such Starcraft, and the history of personal computing.

I write science fiction novels and short stories. You can read more about them here.

I'm also the creator of the rapid application development framework newLISP on Rockets, which powers this blog and a number of other sites.
