I bought a Logitech Action Gamepad

'twas $29.95 CAN at London Drugs, about 5$ less than the Sidewinder, so I got it.  USB, for some reason the drivers on the CD were taking an infinitely long time to install, so I downloaded newer ones off their web site.

It's a great little game pad, the most comfortable I've ever used (more comfortable, in fact, than my PS2's DualShocks!) and it has a digital and analog stick and six buttons + two shoulders.

I have my MS Sidewinder Force Feedback Pro 2 joystick connected as well, and they both seem to work without too much interference with each other, except in some MAME games.

The best game, by far, to play with this thing is Tournament Cyberball (Arcade) on MAME.  The analog stick is PERFECT for running plays.  It also rocks for playing Dungeons and Dragons: Tower of Doom (arcade) on Final Burn (I use the d-pad for that one)  I can pull off the duck-run-sword thrust combo with ease, whereas it was almost impossible using the keyboard.

I like it.  Two enthusiastic thumbs up.

Sigh. I need to install more cool games on my box at home. I got a Sidewinder Force Feedback for christmas a year or 2 ago, and still haven't used it, aside from playing with it in the control panel. :(

Maybe some Mech 2-4, and some Freespace. Mmm.

The Force Feedback joystick is really really good in Freespace 2.

But, for some unexplained reason, I became totally bored of Freespace 2 about halfway through.  I know, it's weird, I love that kind of game, I LOVED the Wing Commander series, but...
