I was told ten years ago that I would need my wisdom teeth out, or disaster would surely follow. I wimped out, and refused to go get them extracted.
Today, my mouth is just as perfect as it was after my braces came off, and my wisdom teeth are no problem at all. In fact, I rather like having them.

Other times it's like mine.
3 were coming in sideways, pushing all of my other teeth together, and the 4th had come in more or less straight, but since it was in constant contact with my cheek it soon developed a cavity that ran along it's entire length. (I could feel along the whole thing with my fingernail. It was insanely nasty.) I was rather glad to have them out finally. Though now I always get food stuck behind my right molar. That sucks balls.

I have some pathetic efforts at wisdom teeth.
Periodically, they poke through my gum, causing bleeding and pain.
But they don't poke through very effectively, so the gum heals, growing back over the teeth.
This process has been repeated countless times. It's extremely uncomfortable.

In 1990, my dentist decided that "they need to come out." I didn't argue, and he proceeded to pull out the ones on the right side of my jaw. This was under local anesthesia while I was wide awake. The motherfucker was brutal; I couldn't openmy mouth wide enough to satisfy him. I wonder if he had been in a movie with Dustin Hoffman.
He didn't remove the other 2 wisdoms (mostly because I was prepared to poke his eyeballs out with some of his oral torture tools), and I've not had the need nor inclination to part with them.
