Harbinger has teh employment

Harbinger

Well, after one year and 9 days of unemployment, I was offered a network admin position at the main office of a bank.  I called back this morning to say that I accept the offer.

Now I'm calling the cable company to order their cable modem package.    [Caveat: That is, if they are honestly, truly offering it in my area.  They've had a tendency to be non-committal wrt when my neighborhood gets coverage.  But they just sent me this flier in the mail, so we shall see.]

Hurrah!  Now you can put in a good word for the Mighty AYB :cheesy:

I'm glad you have a good job now :)

Thanks.  Feel like commuting all that way, AYB?

And I forgot to add this in my original post:

...oh, and you need to buy some nifty stuffs :)

I'm in southeast Pennsylvania.  Wisconsin isn't all that far, no? ;)

Buy nifty stuff?  I already put in a request for the cable modem today; I was told that my neighborhood is supported.

I also need to get some new ties for this new job.  Ah well, we sometimes need to make sacrifices.  I will miss wearing demin shorts in the summer months.

I am experiencing both relief and trepidation.  I'm glad that I'll finally have a steady income, but I have this feeling that I must "prove myself" all over again.  But maybe I'm just putting too much undue stress on myself; that's what my wife thinks.  It was with sadness that I had to tell my old/current boss that I've found a full-time position.  Sure, he wanted to hire me full time, but they couldn't afford to do it for "a few more months" -- unfortunately, I need to pay my mortgage now, so I had to make that decision.

Looks like I'll still get some work from him on the side, but in LAN administration and some web server work.

Money is nice to have, I have learned.

You could have asked me, I could have told you that :)

add the entire length of the Cheese State to that though, it's prolly close to a thousand miles :(

One day we shall have an OSY-meet though.  We should determine a central location.  Most of us live on the N. American Continent.

Indianapolis!

Hehe, no, that's not selfish of me ;)

I have a sister-in-law in Lexington, KY, so we could arrange a family visit to coincide. :deal:

Also have friends in Chicago.

Of course, if you come out my way, I'd be willing to put some people up in my place.  We do have some room. :D  That, and a house-wide LAN; Starcraft, Q3, Civ3, Dungeon Siege, RtCW anyone?

As they say in my basement, actually they=me right now. Fucking A Great! I'm glad to hear you got a job.

Obviously I'm back up and running here in the heartland. Now I gotta drive down to WI and find AYB a job. Don't make me do that AYB, I'll be pissed if I spend any more time in my truck ( 2168 miles in 5 days, 1680 of that in 2 days ).

This = Teh Win!

AYB, I never made any claims to FPS superiority myself.  I suck with the worst of them in that regard. ;)  There's still Civ3, which I haven't even busted out yet.  I'd definitely like to do multiplayer Dungeon Siege.

Does High Heat have LAN support?  I have several game pads, just in case!

Not to mention our extensive DVD and even more prodigious laserdisc collection -- we'd not be lacking for entertainment.  Unless you wanted to play a console, that is. ;)

High Heat seems to support LAN.

I am pretty good at franchise development, but not hitting and stuffs

I'm quite the reverse; I never commit enough time to get into career mode.

Sorry this is late, but uber-congrats to Harb, for finding a job!

Do regale us all with the great tales of your working tagnuttery, Harb!

Thanks, JR.  I'm looking forward to getting my hands on their IT infrastructure; I'll actually be working at a place where this stuff is vitally important to the operation of the company.

Meanwhile, I'm working at implementing Terminal Services and ISA server at my current contract job.  And I have a few *BSD distros to play with at home, and if I get some time I need to complete my Cisco learnin'.  Now, if I could only figure out a way to play Dungeon Siege while I sleep, I'll have this 'time management' thing down pat.
