QuarkXpress is also necessary.
Come on, say it. SAY IT!
Good. How I would kill for Quark right about now.

to see the refitting of the web site I'm making.
It's *trying* to look like a newspaper but a lot of the stuff would be easier to build in Quark and to later slice in PS.

Phish is goners.
You think I should find a way to insert the fish ala mascot?
I had to re-do the page because my bosses cut so many services out of the HeraldStore(business has been anemic) that the front page links were inaccurate.
Should I include the fish somewhere? Mmmm...Maybe I will...

I hate, hate, hate it when sites use a centered 200px table or whatnot to limit the site size. I'm all about dynamic. Big window, wide site. Small window, narrow site. Granted, it requires more effort in the design and whatnot, but a few <nobr> tags will help you out.
One of my greatest pet peaves are sites made almost wholly of images. Text is text. I like text. Images are for pictures, and text with an uncommon font or that has been hand drawn. I know you're still doing a work in progress, but I figured I'd let you know what came to me as I checked it out. (Aren't I thoughtful? )
I do like the direction you're headed though, should be an interesting layout.

You're right. Check out www.heraldstore.com and you'll see that I did have a dynamic layout site.
Can I do it this time? No.
A newspaper doesn't grow/shrink.
Many versions of Netscape don't recognize empty tables with background colors unless they have a nested table that has a bgcolor itself(strange, but true).
I can't resize an image: I.e. the main banner.
I can't resize the body text in the page which is an IMAGE. Why did I make it an image? Afterall, it takes up more space, doesn't flow in table shape and can't be read by search spiders? Simple, because the page doesn't work with left/right aligned text and, because the text had to be justified, my only options were CSS(which still don't work properly with many browsers) or <p align="justify" which doesn't work properly with IE3=> and Netscape 4=>. If I built a dynamic site, I'd have all the images in the middle clustered and it wouldn't look like a newspaper.

Two reasons why the site is going to be 90% images:
A. We specialize in selling images.
B. My images are small gifs/jpegs and the landing page will be under 50k.

Hope that clears up some of the reasons why I did what I did.
Basically, I added text links and photo link replicates. This way, non-photo browsers, rational users(like you) and photo-lovers(like the majority) can all at least *use* the site.
Still any suggestions are always taken with much eagerness.

All the fish bubbles lead to "page not found".
Perhaps that is why business is so bad?

:( :( :( :(
I propose we designate Madan as OSY's official Webpage affuendo.
Perhaps he can assist Jeremy with future layouts and such :)
