I think the point has escaped you, DrPizza.

This is not a forum, it is an anti-forum. Elsewhere, there are rules, and procedures; here, pretty much anything goes. We say what we want, when we want, and how we want in what capacity we choose.

Only one OSY thread ever has been locked. Only one person has ever been banned, and that was for posting pictures so disgusting that they should never be viewed by anyone. There are no punishments; no infractions; nothing like that. OSY is a monument to everything that is wrong about internet BBS's, and it's better that way.

This thread is sucktacular.

It doesn't matter whether it's a "forum" or "anti-forum".  Posting so many pointless messages does nothing other than increase the chance that ikonboard will go tits up.

Since it means so much to you, could you not get Jeremy to bump up your post count instead?

Personally, I don't think anyone's posting style here is out of line.  If IG wants to post like he is, I personally have no problem with it, and I have the most to lose as I am the only one with a higher post count than him.

Postcount isn't really important to me anymore.  I have long accepted that I may be passed up one day and I don't mind one wit.

OSY is where we can do stuff we can't do anywere else.  I say, let it be.

Can't we all just get along? :cheesy:

It doesn't.  But given that all these boards have a general relationship such that the probability of a crash is some function of the number of messages, it seems foolish to raise that probability with pointless messages.

I believe he's referring to quantity instead of quality.  I can understand his position, considering past problems we've seen at OpenTopic.  (And I've seen Yahoo's forum go bonkers many more times than I'd like to remember.)

Besides, if this BBS software could be written to judge the quality of its stored postings, I think we'd all be doomed. ;)
