I think you'd be dissapointed with some of our desktops. Mine for instance, is black, or the default dark gray in XP. I don't like background images much, it's just quicker to only use color.

You got that right. I feel so... limited... when I have to use my laptop, whose LCD does but 1024x768. Which is why I have an affordable 19" CRT on my desk at home.

Hell, I was doing 1024x768 on my Amiga with a 14" monitor back in '93.

Quite simply incorrect.

15" LCD == 15" viewable == 1600x1200, because of the discrete pixels.

17" CRT == 15.5" viewable == 1280x1024, to maintain sharp focus.
