i've been venturing into the BF the last one week and boy does that place still suck some major camel balls.

If anyone is getting something out of the BF, its the Camel who's getting his balls sucked.

I got to call you a poopy-head.

That gave me much enjoyment. :)

You know, there's some pretty weird lookin stuff in the depths of the ocean.

where did the topic of weird things in deep oceans come from?

I was watching the Discovery Channel.

There's a bunch of these little glow in the dark stuff down there that emit phosphorecent flashes to confuse little pea-shaped preditors that look like the definition of "odd" itself.

Discovery Channel is teh win!

History Channel is pretty sweet too.

PBS has its moments

National Geographic is kinda here and there...

Only REASON why i liked cable in the US. Other wise TV in america is teh brain damager!

not that teh internet doesn't do its part in reducing the average intelligence of the populas. With such popular words as 'fugly', 'sucktacular' and the overused 'indeed' I predict that teh english language will over time become a soup of jumbled up words and acronyms that are used as words.

Or and lets not forget numbers in words to make you self look [H]4rd[C]0r3 1337 h4x0r just because you don't use AOL!!!!

I liked it when computers were teh domain of geeks. At least computer related conversations were far more interesting instead of:

"yeah i got a geforce 3 which is like so cool because its more powerful then a pentium since it like has more transistors and stuff so i'm like ellite!"

the meek shall truly inherit the world!

I'm kind of upset with cable as it's price has increased by $10/month over the past year and the content is not where I'd like it to be.

I like the History Channel as well, and Midwest Sports Channel where I gets to watch the Twins.

The SCI-Fi channel is nice at times, but lately they've been playing these sucktacularly lame movies from the 40's which I don't like.

I, of course, get a good deal of use from Comedy Central, but I could do without the fifteen frickin' news channels like CNN and C-Span and the other also-rans.  Just give me Fox news and the local news channels and get rid of the rest and charge me less.

And I could do without the Womens Entertainment.  And this lame Public Access shit that I'm subsidizing for the sake of having some stupid shit on the air.

Wow, That Loses!

Can we start a rant on US cable?

It was only recently that my cable monopoly decided to add SciFi to the "standard" cable listing.  I'd been without SciFi for several years, no thanks to those bastards.

My favorite saying was that I wanted to trade all the religious, Spanish, and wimmenz channels just to get SciFi.  For the money we pay each month, I'd sooooo much like to choose what channels we want.  THEN cable will be worthwhile.  Hell, we finally get all the other Discovery channels (Civilization, Wings, etc) now.

Anywayz, we need a 24-hour Buffy channel.  And a Joel-centered MST3K channel would be teh uberwin!

Cable in HK sucks ass too.

The peeps that own teh cable are idiots because they keep changing teh fscking programs around.

Add to that its mostly in chinese which is understandable since the majority of the populas here is chinese.

BUT and this is an annoying BUT!!!!

we have Nicam ( i don't know what they call it in the US but i know you guys have it too) which allows you to change the language of the show if the option is available. So if a program is originally taped in english and then later the studio's dub a chinese track we can choose between the two.
So here is the dealio. There are a few *dedicated* chinese channels which sometimes airs US/UK made shows BUT for some inane reason they only broadcast the show in the dubbed chinese with no option to switch over to the original english language!!!!

AHHHHH!!!!! FUCKERS!!!!!!!!!

Makes no fucking sense at all!!!!!!

bAstards!!!!

If I was paying for it myself, I would never be able to justify to myself the cost of cable. Though I would miss John Stewart.
OscarWilde

Mon Feb 4 03:38:14 2002

John Stewart is teh funny 'jewish' comedian right?

I say jewish because if i'm thinking of the right person, he's the one that tends to make a lot of satirical statements at various american cultures/religions especially towards his own Jewish heritage.

Yes, he is master of teh irony!

Best show on cable. Hopefully someday he will get his own network show like letterman or leno.

OscarWilde

Mon Feb 4 03:54:57 2002

yeah but then for some reason these shows only bring the 'artist' down. Doing something day in and day out can make for a very stale and unhealthy enviroment.

Leno and Lettermen are the lowest form of comedy. Well they are a few steps above Jerry Springer...

Whats your opinion on George Carlin? you should check out his website!

DuffMan

Mon Feb 4 04:36:40 2002

Hmm, I disagree with that. Leno, maybe since most of his jokes seem to be the same thing over and over again. Basically he just brings up some stereotype and turns it into a joke. Letterman, however, I think is great, since he goes on his personality, not just the content of the jokes (which are often quite crappy).

It's not so much about creating something funny and new every night, since thats pretty much impossible for writters and the host to do. It's more about just being a great entertainer. They take whatever they have and make it interesting and entertaining, even if it is not very interesting, and that impresses me.

I cannot understand the american thirst for those dire late night talk shows.

They sap the will to live.

People like Letterman -- they don't have enough material for one show a week, let alone seventeen times a week as they seem to be.

They're shit.

DuffMan

Mon Feb 4 06:15:12 2002

Well not everyone can live up to the standards of Benny Hill in terms of comedy.

Comedy is not about the material.

Mon Feb 4 06:51:23 2002

The material stinks, the delivery stinks.

==> stink.

Kinda of reminds me of Arsenio Hall.

After the first two seasons, the only one that was laughing at his jokes was himself.

It all went to crap after Johny Carson retired.

Bump^

The BF does indeed lack content nessasary to capture my attention, at least for the time being.

OSY is a different story.  So many happy trolls getting along in a pristine environment. :)
