Much like The_Hitman. He registered a while ago but has never used his account, far as I remember. Not that I want him here to do so.

Here, here. Can't say his posts at Ars provide much positive contribution; I wouldn't want him fouling these waters as well. :hmmm:

And then your 3001st post, which will make you OSY's first Admiral.
Thu Jan 31 22:42:28 2002
Besides, this is OSY. You're *supposed* to be loud here. Wiout you and IG and Wilde, this place would be a virtual graveyard.
Venture is different. He's nasty and a troll.
BTW, I'm wondering what you're going to do on you 3000th post. It's gotta be special, no?
You're not going to pull a MWSF02 on us, are you AYB?

Damn right. Just from anecdotal observations, I'd estimate that the three of us account for 50% or more of the posts in any given week.
Venture is different. He's nasty and a troll.
He's also (to a frothing-at-mouth Mac hater like me) at times very very funny.

I'm just as sick of macusers spouting urban myths as i am of pc users who think they are 1337 because they can stick a DIMM in their motherboard so they are qualified at making statements about computer architecture.
Venture finally proved him self a moron when he said Apple was the bad guy and not motorola because Apple could not provide the sales to support the PPC development.
what an idiot!
Does he even know what he's talking about?
NOOO!!!!!!
The deal is Apple is NOT MOTOROLA'S BIGGEST CUSTOMER! Apple doesn't even account for the bulk of Mot's PPC sales. Its the embedded industry.
Then the fucking bullshit, motorola doesn't stress on higher mhz because it doesn't need to.
Again BS!!!!
The embedded market is very competitive and Motorola needs to ramp up speeds to meet the demands of its customers that DO REQUIRE faster chips.
Then there is the really annoying mac apologist myth that IBM can automagically increase speeds with a flick of a button but is holding back because Apple doesn't want them too. Not even fucking true. With the exception of some incidents (Taiwan earthquake that level a Mot factory that was handling some of the processor fabs) Mot has consistently released faster chips that IMB has (G4 vs. G3 that is).
So how am i qualified to say such a thing when i'm not even an EE my self nor do i work in the industry.
Well thats because I make the effort to understand and pay attention to those that do. Theres a guy at xlr8yourmac who is an electronics engineer who deals with PPC and the embedded market. He deals with CPU's from Mot on a daily basis. ITS HIS JOB. So i'm assuming he'd know what he's talking about.
Then you have BadAndy over at ars who confirmed what the guy at xlr8yourmac has been saying and he to obviously has a lot of knowledge.
Thats my biggest gripe with the internet. Its now become a medium of armchair scientist and specialist who actually have no training or education background in the field that are 'reporting' on.
Its becoming harder and harder to sperate the good info from the bad. THe only way now is to look at the background of the authors.
This by the way reflects how I feel about arstechnica.
Apparently even DF as much as he knows about computer archiecture fails to have real world experience that can make a difference in the conclusion. There was a guy who for a living worked at different fabs who made a point of this.
I respect DF don't get me wrong, but it was an interesting 'eye opener' to the difference between being educated in the area and having a lifetime of experience in that area.
wow!
This is why I like OSY. People here are at least open about what they know, what they don't know and who they are.

BadAndy kicks SOME MAJOR ASS!!! Damn that guys knows his shit. Its nice to have someone that knows so much about the mac platform.
I actually have been following his and Illegl's discussion. you're right, he does know his PPC but has made several mistakes concerning the x86. To tell you the truth, he does posses a lot of knowledge but strikes me as a bit of a PPC fanboy from my first impressions.

Perhaps the most knowledgable Computer Architecture guy in the forum is Paul DeMone
He sometimes gives detailed and insightfull writings on the inside doings of the MPU industry on www.realworldtech.com
His stuff is very good reading. :)
He stays pretty much in the CPU Tech forum.
I'm glad you are so interested in Tagnuts. Tagnuts == Teh Win!

Indeed. It's a very very wonderful thing that Mr. DeMone graces ArsTechnica with his knowledge. A first-class, top-level resource, he is.

The Silicon Insider column. I think I've read pretty much all of them. Most of them gave me a doubleplusbig headache from all the CPU tagnutry therein.
