Been dead since I sold mine in 94.

1 Some people juat really can't understand the similarities between collectors item and dead. Heavens no.
II It's a bloody waste of time to argue with anyone who would quote scriptures in a thread about computers. When that happens it's time to just pack it up and go home. From there it's only a small step to "platform as a religious choice" as NuVector posted in some other thread. Waste of time all around.
c English isn't the first language of the guy who started that thread. No. Freakin. Way.
4 If I want to get an Amiga someday for my technology collection, I'd better start before that Europian company buys all of them off of Ebay

Does anyone else see the irony of that statement? :)
Oh, on a side statement, I'd love to find me a Amiga 3000 for my nostalgy collection. :(

AYB:
I think there are more than 9 remaining Amigas, because I have a number buried in basements other than my own. Off the top of my head, here's what my inventory would be if it was all together in one place:
- A500
- A600
- A1000 (2)
- A1200
- A2000 (2, maybe 3)
- A3000
Basically, everything but an A4000, an A3000T, and a CD32. Others got to them before I could. ;)
I used to do a lot of video work, and ran a BBS, and probably some collecting along the way. I used an A1000 and later an A500 in college.
OT: DrPizza, the "Ensign Ro" episode is on right now. Shall I fap for you? ;)

The Amiga is dead.

GAWD. Doesn't he realize that you do NOT need to hit <Return> after every sentence?!? Paragraphs, man!

Perhaps I misspoke.
How about 9 remaining amiga users that are all mentally linked to swarm to any part of the internet that speaks of the demise of their beloved platform :)

you're a mean spiteful person.
Yeah. And...?

OK, that's more acceptable. I just don't want to be responsible for 8 of the 9 "remaining" Amigas in use, considering that I don't use them. ;)
And regarding that thread in BF... just because people still use, and some people still develop for, a dead platform does NOT mean that the platform isn't as dead as Richard Nixon. But yet this simple fact can't get through that poster's skull... <sigh>

Wasn't that his name, Reimer?

He still posts on comp.sys.amiga.advocacy. Worth a look for the sheer idiocy alone.

I knew it.

Harb: Did you run a Cnet bbs? Where you on Clink? I ran a Cnet bbs from 92 till 94. :)
To be honest, I can't even recall what it was! It sure wasn't Atreides (sp?), I'll tell you that. ;) I was running a 2-line BBS on the (at the time) brand new US Robotics 9600 bps modems, that only reached that speed when connecting with other USR modems of the same type. Ain't technology great?
Ahh, those where the days, had a multi serial card, blew it out one day, had to get a GVP replacement.
I'm quite familiar with the GVP I/O cards, since I used to work there. Perhaps we spoke over the phone at some point? ;)
OW:
crap, how old are you guys?
Poop, I just turned 34 last month. But I certainly don't feel that 'old' since I try to slack off whenever and wherever possible. Laziness keeps you young.
Sun Jan 27 23:10:28 2002
Harb: If slacking off keeps you young, I'm about 12. :)
You worked at GVP Eh? That's damn cool, they had some of the finest products for the Amiga, heh, first HD I ever owned was a GVP Hard Card. :)
Damn, I'm getting nostaligic. I'm gonna have to fire up Winuae now. :)

Meh, leave good memories in the past, where they belong. ;)
Besides, my DVD-RW drive should be arriving on Monday. Won't do much good on an Amiga, would it?!
