Eventually, I believe Britain may join the Euro, and it may help the thing if they do. Britain is one of the world's largest economies, after all.

odd fact: while his english is friggin perfect (everything he says sounds like a well executed school assignment), he refers to the dutch currency - guilders, in english - as gulden, which is the dutch word.

If we really wanted a global currency, why not sell currencies to the big credit card companies? They'd be able to consolidate them. Visa and Mastercard pretty much handle the western worlds debt anyway.
Yeah, the governements of the West could privatise currency! That way, the ten billion quid deficit from switching to eCash could be regained in fees!
