XP is slow, and Luna looks a bit raw.
My GUI has locked up once already.
Anywhoo, how does everyone else like XP. Mad! Loves it naturally :)
Where can I go to get good themes/skins/etc for it?
Wow, it's fusking slow!

I'm downloading XP drivers for my AIW Radeon now. 10.6mb on a 33.6 connection...
....sucktacular....
Anywhoo, the default AIW drivers didn't even support OpenGL as a 9.35 score in Cinbench will attest.

You can get Radeon VE's from some places online for $80, so unless you're saving up for "the next big thing" I'd just grab one of those. It'll likely improve your perception of XP quite a bit. (It's much easier to like when it's not crashing  )

Unless someone other than matrox has figured out how to get dual head not to suck.

I'd rather have a Matrox dual-head than a VE.Unless someone other than matrox has figured out how to get dual head not to suck.

I would think that Windows 2K would be the better deal if XP provides nothing of significance you may not need.
And is the display performace deal similar to OS X, i.e. advanced GUI engine that requires a new hardware acceleration?
Anyway I told my friend to stay away from using XP and just stick with 2K. Its all bootleg off course but i'm not concerned with his choice in ethics. I just warned him to stay away from XP if he was going to use bootlegs. Might bite him in the ass later on.
Funny though. XP product activiation is meant to stop piracy and within a week i have friends and colleges who are installing boot leg copies of XP.
Unfortunately you can't fight piracy by chaining the consumer.

I've always like hitachi's and their shaddow mask stuff. yet the Samsung AG's get much praise from the AV crowd.

XP uses a bitmapped GUI. I don't know how that is different than earlier windows but it seems to slow things down.
Funny, unless XP searched my network for an internet connection in order to activate, I may indeed have a copy that requires no activation (EDU version)
Product activation isn't all that bad of an anti piracy measure, however annoying it may be when you retire your old box to being a Linux firewall in lieu of faster hardware. It looks like a downright stroke of genius compared to product keys.
