LOL!!!

yeah why not leave you laptop on for a day and find the next morning that its melted. I bet you that your warrant doesn't cover that.

Besides the Sony Vaio owns your sorry IBM ass.

and what about sony's AMD based laptops... the specs are not as great but you got money to spare for mods.

Which VAIOs have a PIII-M 1.2 GHz, up to 1 Gbyte RAM, 48 Gbyte HD, 15" 1600x1200 TFT, 32 Mbyte Radeon, integrated modumb, ethernet, wireless?

Hey,  Hows the heat build up on that thing? My Compaq, and a few other newer laptops I've used have been horrible for heat. Basically they get so hot you really can't keep them in your lap for more than 40 minutes, after that it starts to get really uncomfortable.

how long do you think you could keep it on your lap if it vibrated instead?

for what Pizza paid, I'd at least expect it to do that! :)

AYB: Yer jealous. :)

Oh yea, Pete, how is the IBM driver for the mobility? Friend of mine has a Radeon mobility laptop, and I haven't found a good driver set yet, but I haven't tried the IBMs.

Dunno what the drivers are like.  It seems that Crucial shipped me bad RAM (or, and this'll be very upsetting, the RAM slot is damaged, but I don't think this is the case).  So I'm busy trying to isolate where the problem is.

Ah shit man. Good luck, hopefully it's 'just' bad ram, and not a bad socket.

Getting bad hardware is always a bummer. :(
